…Of something greater

The wages for our sin is death.

There is a cure, there is a way to overcome death. The full verse from Romans 6:23 states this

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (emphasis mine).

That cure is as simple as receiving a free gift. You don’t have to pay for it, just accept it. That gift is that someone else died in your place. You can live because someone else paid the price of your sins. What is better, that life is ETERNAL.

The person who paid that price is none other than Jesus Christ. He is the bridge to our canyon. He lifts you off the branch and places you firmly on the other side. He does not trick you and drop you on another cliff identical to the one you are on now. He loved you so much that He died in your place. He took your sins upon himself as He hung on the cross. Three days later he smashed those sins into smithereens when he arose from the dead.

The only thing he asks is that you continue to seek a relationship with him. Like any other person that you would interact with on a day-to-day basis, He wants to have a personal relationship with you. He wants you to cross the canyon step off the edge of the cliff and into something greater.

If you want this kind of forgiveness and relationship with Christ, all you have to do is believe that Christ died for your sins, repent from them and believe that he rose from the dead. It is as simple as saying these words

Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name.

Amen

If this is your first time saying these words, welcome to the family of God.

Spoiler alert!!

You will mess up at some point. It is okay, no one is perfect. God is always there with welcome arms, ask forgiveness and it shall be forgiven.

Helpful Hints

  • Find other believers to connect to and tell them about your belief in Jesus Christ. Easiest place to find them would be at a church. Find a church that teaches the Bible and seems welcoming and get connected.
  • Find a Bible and read it daily. If you are overwhelmed and do not know where to begin try this blog.

Always remember that we are to continue to the goal of something greater. If you are still trying to figure out exactly what this is all about, click on the tag “Journey to the Cross” to the right. Here I go a little more in detail about the story of how and what exactly Christ did for you.
